Why You Should Choose Comparative and Contrast Essay Topics

Why You Should Choose Comparative and Contrast Essay TopicsStudents have been struggling to choose between comparative and contrast essay topics. They are just not sure what to choose. Not knowing which you should pick, they seem to keep choosing different types of essay topics. This is a frustrating thing for the students who feel as if they have no control over the outcome of their assignments.First of all, think about it logically. Which topic is easier to write about? You can compare two things to one another in two ways. You can be descriptive in how you present your information. Or you can be more subjective in how you interpret what other people say.In order to explain the importance of one subject to another, you would want to present both its positive and negative attributes. If you want to offer an explanation of why things happen in your life, then you can use descriptiveness. But if you want to help people understand what causes them to feel sadness or happiness, then you have to be more subjective in your interpretations. If you want to write about comparing and contrasting two things, then you can use a comparison statement. Your essay topic can focus on a category of values or beliefs. For example, the comparison statement may be 'A certain religious group believes that Satan is the only good thing that ever happened to man.'The main difference between comparative and contrast essay topics is that comparative topics allow you to talk about the same things and draw similarities between the things. Comparisons allow you to define the same things differently. For example, I can compare two sports by stating that football and baseball are 'two similar sports where two different teams try to achieve the same goal.' In contrast, I can tell you about two contrasting things by claiming that one is 'not like the other.' That is why both statements are correct.Contrast statements are designed to reveal a different quality of something. As an example, I coul d compare a flower's colour with its shape. I can use contrast to draw a line between something that I would consider beautiful or unique and something that I consider to be common or ordinary. As I have said before, both statements are correct.Essays can only ever cover a few ideas at a time. It is difficult to deal with a lot of ideas at once. It is not like you can find something and be done with it; it would take too long to finish the whole essay. When you want to have a balance between similarities and differences, it is best to write about similar things and relate them to one another using comparisons. Both of these things are easy to write about and can make your writing appear much more attractive.
